Earl Beatty Playground Reconfiguration

You may have noticed that exciting things are happening in the Earl Beatty Playground!

After the meetings and discussions in December, it was decided to reconfigure the playground to maximize play space and safety! The reconfiguration was decided on in consultation with EBSAC, Board experts, the school administration, the School Trustee, and the school superintendent. We hope that with these changes students will continue to have a safe place to play, exercise, and have fun!

Gail Bornstein, School Ground Design Consultant with Evergreen/Toronto District School Board, has suggested that the trees be replaced with a red maple and a tulip tree.

Great News for the Earl Beatty Community Centre!

This week at the City of Toronto Budget Committee Meeting, the report which recommended drawing $2.5 M from the under-estimated assessment revenue of $8.8M to fund student nutrition and 12 community centres was approved. That means we WILL have programming at our community centre for the foreseeable future. THANK YOU to everyone who pushed so hard to support our centre and keep its programmes open.  This is GREAT NEWS and helps to keep our school and community vital and relevant to all! And don't forget to support our local community centre so we can prove to the government this was a good decision to make.

Not such great news is that GA Brown's pool is still at risk.  You can show support for GA Brown Pool by joining in a pool-less outdoor swim, BBQ, and indoor pool swim on Saturday Jan 14th, noon to 3 at GA Brown. Noon to 1 - outside, 1 -3 free leisure swim.
