QSP Magazine Fund Raiser

Hello friends of Earl Beatty-

Our QSP campaign launched Sept. 27, and runs until Oct 10.
Our goal of $12,000 in magazine sales will mean nearly $4,000 for our school. Funds will help buy interactive IT for classrooms (like portable smart boards), bring scientists into the school and so much more!

Magazines can be ordered all year long, but the great prizes are only available for the next 2 weeks. More information is available in the attached flyer.  Click here to explore QSP and purchase magazines now!
Catalogues and detailed information on the prizes was sent home with student folders on September 27. Thanks again for your support!

Current Unrest in Education

Like many parents, you may have questions about the current political unrest in Ontario schools.

The People for Education website offers a clear Q and A format article that answers some of these questions and explains the reasons behind the dispute between the province and its teachers.

Week 3 Update

Please note that as part of on-going teacher job action Curriculum Night has been cancelled.

At the last school council meeting, it was suggested that a parent committee be formed to review the challenges involved in the integration of two new programs to Earl Beatty: full-day kindergarten and French immersion senior kindergarten. This committee will brainstorm lessons learned and solutions that can be shared with the school. Two kindergarten parents have volunteered to lead this "kindergarten advisory group". If you are interested in getting involved, please contact Idella Sturino (sturino@gmail.com) and Carla Eastwood (carla_eastwood@gmail.com). It's a short-term commitment for a long-term gain for our school, so please give some serious thought to participating.

Welcome to the 2012/13 School Year!

The first EBSAC meeting will be held this Thursday, September 13th in the downstairs lunchroom at 7 pm.

Nomination forms for the new 2012-2013 council will be handed out at this meeting.
This is a great opportunity to be part of the partnership between the school and parent/local community. Participating on the school council is a rewarding experience for those who value the opportunity to make a difference in their children’s education.

Childcare will be provided in Room 9.
